Ebay, always Ebay - the Ebay nightmare continues!

Well, it seems that some Ebay-Experiences are quite symptomatic. Mauser*Girl and Stephan talked about the Censorship-Gestapo at Ebay in their last comments, an experience that I painfully share.

I had once an old cigarett-album to sell. A sticker Album from 1935 about the Wehrmacht. Ebay-Germany dropped it, Ebay Switzerland and Ebay USA as well. No Nazi-Stuff they said and no Antisemitism. Well, a part from one single notice in the book where it says that Jews can't enlist to the Wehrmacht, it has not a single anti-Jewish note. It was just historical pictures of soldiers, guns, vehicles and horses.
It's history. Nothing more, nothing less. Nobody can juge if someone who buys it does it because of historical interest or because he's a hateful Nazi.
I guess that this sticker-Album was too harmless for a real Nazi anyway.
I finally slipped trough the Censorship by naming the thing "Historic album about ancient German army". But that fuzz annoys me.

Another auction of mine was cancelled: There I sold an original drawing depicting JFK when...well, not wearing very much. Only a smile, to be true. No nudity they said. But why the hell do I find plenty of disgusting female nudity on Ebay? And I MEAN disgusting as for the poses and the meaning. I don't have anything against tasteful nudity be it female or male.
To hell with bigottry!

In her newest post Mauser*Girl speeks of the experiences of the photograph-collector.
Nothing new, too. I do collect JFK-photos. First because that's the way I learn to draw him and seccondly because I find them beautiful.

Sometimes there is a bargain to make. Some people sell original Press-photos or even private Photos for very little.
Like this one:
There are other Photos of JFK on that horse, one is on a trading card, but this shot is probably unique.

But what annoys me is when they sell photos with the label "rare" - altough that they are well known and mass produced official White House Portraits. Like those:

or this:

Excuse me - but those photos aren't "rare". They are on every seccond book cover. First was taken by Fabian Bachrach as official President Photo and the seccond was taken during camapign by Jacques Lowe, the personal "court photographer" of JFK and is known as the "Alabama-Profile".
These are beautiful portraits, but they are also most probably the first you get when you start a Kennedy collection.

Selling 60ties Soldier Photos as from WW2 is a serious issue in the other hand. One could almost think of a voloutary deception, if it wasn't so stupid. I guess that the person who sold that just tought that all black and white soldier photos are from WW2.
I don't think that the average people can make the difference between a BDM Girl and any woman in a teutonic uniform. Never expect your seller to have the historical knowledge!

How nasty! How fuckin' stupid!

Do you Ebay?

If not, don't.
If yes, you will probably have some compassion for the absolute trivial and non-spectacular tale I have to tell.

I am at Ebay. I have a profile of 271 positives, with just one negative from more than a year ago. Now I have 2 negatives.

The story is told very quickly:
I had some plastic figures to sell. For one Euro. One bidder. I send the figurines, before I even got the money. I sended an invoice via Ebay. Then I received a message from him, that he did not get my bank reference. Sended it again. Nothing. And now, a negative saying that I never got in touch with him.

Can you believe this? I mean, he got the items without having to pay them in advance and then he gives me shit because he didn't get the bank-references fast enough?! And all this for a item worth ONE buck.

Well, a seccond negative in a profile with more than 200 positives is probably not dramatic. But it annoys me to know that I do have to share the planet with such jerks!!

I should learn swedish!

I just went at this obscure "Blog Thing" - a inestimable resource for all bloggers who really don't know what to write in todays Blog. And I found out, that I should learn swedish. Funny enough, its not totally beyond any sense. I do like that country. I like IKEA stuff, Astrid Lindgren and Moose. So then... Skol!

You Should Learn Swedish

Fantastisk! You're laid back about learning a language - and about life in general.
Peaceful, beautiful Sweden is ideal for you... And you won't even have to speak perfect Swedish to get around!

English Version at LULU

Whew! It's done! From today on, it is possible to get the Saturnalia-Story as printed Book at Lulu

I tried to keep the retail price as low as possible. Unfortunally the set-up price is somewhat high. But keep in mind that it is a 44 page full colour book, with softcover paperback binding.

For the back cover, I collected some blurbs. I used the one comment F2x gave me at the TWCL-Profile and quoted the phrase Warren Ellisused too describe AWH.

I also asked Donna Barr to give me a blurb. Totally unexpected, she described AWH as being a satire about Americans, what actually, is not the case. After discussing that, it came out that it was the scene where JFK yelled at the kaiser which gave her that impression. I was a bit confused about her conclusions. More about that in theForum. I would gladly read your toughts on that subject. (In the Forum)

My first steps with Lulu

Today I made the first steps with publishing trough Lulu. I started with rhe French Version of Saturnalia. It was a bit frustzrating first. The required page size is in inches and it was hard to find out the value in Pixels, simce my European Corel-version don't di inches. But then...even with the correct pixel-size the document was not processed correctly. The system permanently pretended that my files were oversiozed (what wasn't true.) A request in the support-forum remained unanswered. I finally switched to the biggest format possbile (and had to resoze the entire comic. Then, it worked. But every file takes a half hour to upload. So I am only at page 10. We'll see how it will go on...
